YARN BOMBING KEEPS ME YOUNG

yarn bomb postI’ve been yarn bombing for a good few years now & in the course of my yarn bombing adventures I’ve always liked to take a lot of photographs of my yarn bombs or any outstanding yarn bombs that I’ve come across in my local neighbourhood. I’ve yarn bombed in Adelaide & Tasmania, in my own front yard & in the park on my street. Yarn bombing has bought me hours of entertainment & a lot of joy. Photographing my yarn bombs has rekindled a love of photography that I had back in my university days. All in all yarn bombing keeps me young & playful, even though it is based on the so called Granny arts of knitting & crochet.SONY DSCLook out for me in 40 years time because I’ll be the Granny with the rainbow coloured walking cane. SONY DSCyarn bomb money boxI will basically yarn bomb anything thats not nailed down, including this money tin.

YARN BOMBING THE KNITTED TREE IN MY CRAFT GARDEN

Autumn in South Australia is here & it’s time to get my house & garden ready for winter, so of course I’m yarn bombing everything in sight, to give it a warm feeling.yarn bomb tree jumper yarn bomb tree with a jumper 2 yarn bomb tree with a jumperThis tree is on my front fence line & was actually dead when I moved into my house. A lot of people told me to cut the tree down but I decided just to trim it back & plant my garden around it. I have yarn bombed one of the main branches with a cream coloured knit. I am planning to adorn the tree with more yarn bombing and some wind chimes over the next few months.

GARDENING, YARN BOMBING, ELEPHANTS, BIRD BATHS & PHOTOGRAPHY

MY MOST RECENT EFFORT IS THE YARN BOMBING OF MY NEW BIRDBATH. I WRAPPED THE BASE IN MULTICOLOURED FINGER KNITTING & SEWED ON SOME CROCHET FLOWERS. MY GARDEN IS QUITE WHIMSICAL AND IT IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. I LOVE TO ADD NEW PLANTS AND STAUES AND TO PHOTOGRAPH MY PROGRESS AS I GO. I HAVE COVERED THE POSTS TO THE ENTRANCE WAY OF MY HOUSE WITH BRIGHTLY KNITTED YARN BOMBS AND FILLED MY GARDEN WITH LOTS OF LITTLE TREASURES AND LOTS OF CACTI AND SUCCULENTS.TERRARIUM CACTI

Love the Environment & Get Crafty the Retro Singer Sewing Machine Way. Carbon Neutral Craft.

I have just purchased this stunning little Singer sewing machine. The machine is solid steel, works perfectly & was manufactured in Scotland in 1940. It is a hand crank machine, which makes it more than just an awesome piece of machinery, it makes it carbon neutral, as I won’t need to plug it in to do my sewing. The sewing machine is heavy duty & sews thick canvas, leather & denim. Forget the plastic machinery of today & rock out with an old fashioned singer! These models are still very popular in developing countries such as India, where electricity is not always available.

Yarn bombing with Instagram

I recently joined Instagram and have been excited to share photographs of my yarn bombs on Instagram. It’s a lot of fun & whilst it’s actually new technology it has that lovely old fashioned feeling that I used to get with a Polaroid camera & it has a vibrant immediacy about it. So much fun. I thought I’d share some of my Instagram photographs on my blog.
